In addition to the contests, the A&M Consolidated Information Technology Chapter 3561 was recognized at the Opening Ceremony for receiving the Presidential Volunteer Service Award Gold level. To earn this award, the chapter volunteered over 1000 hours of volunteer service. The students and advisor were recognized with a gold pin and a letter from President Trump.

The A&M Consolidated Information Technology Chapter 3561 was also recognized on stage at the awards ceremony as a Models of Excellence Technical chapter. This ranks their chapter in community impact, leadership, excellence and skills. The Models of Excellence Workplace award ranked Chapter 3561 in the top 8 chapters in the nation out of over 18,000chapters.

Delphine Leoue Ngoko Djomo and Spencer Williamson represented AMCHS in the Models of Excellence Program in workshops, presentations, and interviews. They presented the chapter’s technical skills activity, the Family Promise Network Design project, in which the high school IT students won a $25,000 grant to build and install the IT networking and office needs of the Family Promise homeless shelter. In addition, chapter member participated in a poverty simulation in Waco, TX. They were also honored by a dinner with the United States Secretary of Defense, Betsy Devoss.

Alex Hilty represented AMCHS as the SkillsUSA Texas State Vice President, and Samuel Chandler represented AMCHS as our Chapter President at the National Delegation meeting and earned the votes for 2 National officers for the state of Texas.

The SkillsUSA NLSC event held over 19,000 students, advisors and volunteers in attendance from all fifty states and territories including Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. Students competed in over 100 different events making SkillsUSA the largest skilled and technical contest in the Nation. SkillsUSA was named one of the top 10 public to private industry partnerships and the NLSC event boasts to have the single biggest day of corporate volunteerism in America. In addition, students ran the National Delegation meetings, attended SkillsUSA University and Activate Training, participated in a day of service to Louisville, traveled to Kentucky Kingdom amusement park and represented CSISD with great pride.
