Not all students will go straight to college from high school. Many students will choose a career to go into. Hopefully the information below will be helpful as you make the transition from high school to the employment world.

Employment Checklist

1. What are your skills and interests? Don't know? Check out Career Cruising to complete an interest inventory and help you decide on a path that's right for you!
2. Consider taking classes part time at a community college or vocational training school. Local options include 
Blinn College and Vista College
3. Temporary employment services can provide you an opportunity to view first hand various career options and make money while you do it!
4. Read the want ads in the paper. Call about jobs that sound like a job you can do. 
5. Look into on-the-job training or apprenticeship programs. 
6. Use your contacts. Ask your friends, family, relatives, neighbors, former employers, etc for suggestions of job openings.
