Swimming Results at State

The AMCHS Swim team broke 5 school records in one meet, including the oldest school record on the board, going back to 1990. Senior Peter Simmons and freshman Kaitlyn Owens both brought home individual golds medals, with Peter winning the fly for the 2nd year in a row and making it a 3-peat in backstroke. Kaitlyn won the backstroke and got 2nd in the 50 free, breaking her own school record in each. Junior Andrew Zhang broke Brian Randall's 28-year-old boys 200 freestyle record, and our girls 400 free relay (Owens, Peng, Crisciteillo & Kyleigh Harrell) broke the school record while claiming silver in one of the closest and most exciting races of the meet (.08 difference between 1st and 3rd). Our boys medley (Simmons, Zhang, James Rude and Tobia Doerr-Garcia) also broke the school record and got a silver medal behind a Highland Park team that had to break the 5A state record to out-touch us by less than a second. The boys and girls finished 4th in the team standings, and Peter was named the boys 5A TISCA State Swimmer of Meet.
