SkillsUSA is a national organization serving students enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations. It provides experiences in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. It emphasizes quality work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, and life-long learning skills. The club also promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and involvement in community service activities.
There are three chapters of SkillsUSA at A&M Consolidated High School:
- Audio Video Production
- Information Technology
Within these chapters, members have the opportunity to compete against other schools in the State of Texas and Nationally through a state and national program of awards and contests. These contests consist of technical information tests as well as hands on production, troubleshooting and application
- SkillsUSA serves more than 300,000 students and instructors annually.
- The organization has 13,000 school chapters in 54 state and territorial associations.
- More than 14,500 instructors and administrators are professional members of SkillsUSA.
