BPA National Results

Six students represented A&M Consolidated High School at the National Leadership Conference for Business Professionals of America in Orlando, Florida May 10th-13th. .Junior Matthew Simms placed 2nd in Payroll Accounting and senior David Wu was called as a finalist (top 10) in C++ Programming. The A&M Consolidated BPA chapter earned the Community Service Award of Achievement for 250+ service hours or $1,000.00+ and was recognized on stage at the conference.

SkillsUSA IT Chapter named National Models of Excellence

The Information Technology SkillsUSA chapter at A&M Consolidated High School was recently named among the top 24 SkillsUSA chapters nationally as a “Model of Excellence” recipient. This national program recognizes the exceptional integration and application of personal, workplace and technical skills in SkillsUSA chapter activities. This is one of the highest awards bestowed on chapters by SkillsUSA, which is among the largest student organizations for career and technical education. This is the third year in a row that the IT chapter has been awarded this honor.

SkillsUSA Information Technology Chapter 3561 has been awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award – Gold Level

10 students and their 2 advisors from A&M Consolidated High School have been invited to receive the President’s Volunteer Service Award at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky this June. The students are: Carson Fink, David Poteet, Delphine Djomo, John Adams, Keith Adams, John Paul Whiteacre, John Primrose, Kelly Krenek, Matthew Loden and Spencer Williamson. To receive the award, participants had to complete a minimum of 1000 hours of community service within a 12-month period. All hours were documented and verified by representatives at each agency they served with. The group in total serviced over 1625 hours for our local community.

Tigerland CTE Showcase

We would like to invite the community to the Tigerland Career and Technology Department Showcase on Monday, May 15, in the AMCHS Commons area. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. those interested can see the work and accomplishments of Consol Career and Technology students as well as provide feedback to improve CTE programs in the future. The event is free.

Engineering Student success

Four teams from the Engineering Design and Engineering Application classes at AMCHS competed in the "Thru the Chute" cardboard boat contest sponsored by the City of New Braunfels this last Saturday. Seven students made 4 boats and all successfully completed their run through the chute and reached the finish line without sinking or capsizing. Average success rate is about 20%. The team of Robert Kruse and Curtis Franklin posted the fastest time of all contestants. The team of Trey Rink and Zach Ruiz posted the second fastest time in the expert category. The others students competing were Ricardo Avila, Michael Townsend, and Michael Fink.

State Agriculture Mechanics Contest

On Friday FFA members Hunter Scott, William Sullivan and Zach Jett competed at the State FFA Agriculture Mechanics Contest in Huntsville. They were tested over concrete, small engines and grain augers as it relates to this year's theme grain handling. The team placed 9th out of 30 teams that qualified for the event.

Student Accomplishments

A&M Consolidated juniors Tierra Body and Delphine Leoue Ngoko Djomo have been selected as UNT Mayborn School of Journalism Young Spurs essay contest winners for 2017. The Young Spurs writing contest is open to U.S. high school and community college students, between 14-20 years old as of the entry deadline. The Mayborn selects just ten student winners from the entries received each year.
